The Memorial Candle Program has been designed to help offset the costs associated with the hosting this Tribute Website in perpetuity. Through the lighting of a memorial candle, your thoughtful gesture will be recorded in the Book of Memories and the proceeds will go directly towards helping ensure that the family and friends of John Wells can continue to memorialize, re-visit, interact with each other and enhance this tribute for future generations.

The lighting of a Memorial Candle not only provides a gesture of sympathy and support to the immediate family during their time of need but also provides the gift of extending the Book of Memories for future generations.

John E. Wells was a friend of mine!

It was about 1975 when John and I met. We were students at Mississippi State University. Our academic, social, and creative interests were similar. John introduced me to so many friends in Starkville and we shared life and laughs for many years. Our shared stories included theater, media and parties. After I graduated from MSU and while working in Jackson, MS, John called me to tell me about a job opening at the Cooperative Extension Service media department. I worked with John for several years at Extension; we both traveled Mississippi with our 35mm and video cameras. We shot sunsets and farmers and farm animals and forest products...and much more. We shared good food, good laughs and high times. I was living in Bay St. Louis, MS and working at Stennis Space Center when Hurricane Katrina destroyed my home. Word of my loss made it to Starkville and John was instrumental in sending me a large box of clothes. John was like that. Once a friend, always a friend. I will hold our shared memories close to my heart. To family and friends of John, may peace and love and laughs fill the moments of our lives.
