Miriam Hunter  Curry
Mrs. Miriam Hunter Curry passed away peacefully on July 28, 2019. She was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, J. F. Curry.

She is survived by five children, Kevin (Amy) Curry of Starkville, MS, Chris Curry of Starkville, MS, Miriam (Marty)Britt of Starkville, Susan Meadows of Trussville, AL, and Ellen Miller of Trussville, AL. She also leaves 10 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Born Miriam Hunter to Myrtle Mae (Gully) Hunter and Felix Marzine Hunter on May 1, 1923 in Neshoba County, MS, Mrs. Curry graduated from Starkville High School in 1941 and from Mississippi State College in 1944. She worked for many years as a secretary in several departments on the MSU campus including the athletic department, the Extension Service, and the College of Business and Industry. Her favorite pastime was playing Bridge with friends in several ladies bridge clubs, an activity she continued up until, and for a short time after she was admitted to Starkville Manor Nursing Home in 2013.

A lifelong Baptist, Mrs. Curry was a member of Meadowview Baptist Church at the time of her passing. A loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother to all her family, she will be remembered for her great compassion, patience and Christian attitude. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the administration and staff at Starkville Manor Nursing Home and Kindred Hospice for the dedicated and loving care they provided our mom during her long stay there.

Visitation and funeral services will be held at Welch Funeral Home in Starkville on Tuesday, August 6, 2019. Visitation will be from 1:00-2:00 with funeral services immediately following in the chapel. Interment will take place in Oktibbeha Memorial Gardens.

The family requests that any charitable donations be made to the Alzheimer's Foundation of America.
