The Memorial Candle Program has been designed to help offset the costs associated with the hosting this Tribute Website in perpetuity. Through the lighting of a memorial candle, your thoughtful gesture will be recorded in the Book of Memories and the proceeds will go directly towards helping ensure that the family and friends of Norvel Burkett can continue to memorialize, re-visit, interact with each other and enhance this tribute for future generations.

Condolence: Coach was one of my favorite coaches and teachers. He coached me in baseball at Amory High School and also taught me American History. He had a great inflence on my life. Because of his influence on my life, I went to Mississippi State and went into teaching and coaching. He sent me a letter while I was coaching Basketball at Vicksburg High School after I won the State 4A championship in 1980, congratulating my accomplishment. He greatly influence my teaching and career. He will be greatly missed by so many of his students that he taught. I am a better person because of him,and I know he is in a better place in heaven.

Sincerely
Scott Dyson

Condolence: I was saddened to hear of the passing of a good friend. Norvel Lee’s engaging personality, genuine integrity and giving of himself so readily in friendship brought him respect and admiration from all. I am grateful for the reconnection that occurred during the planning of our college 50th reunion.
