Shirley A.  Hunt
Shirley A. Hunt, 81, of Starkville, MS, departed this earth for her heavenly home Saturday, August 14, 2021, in OCH Regional Medical Center. For many years she was a member of Wake Forest Baptist Church where she served as GA Direction mentoring girls from the community, being a positive a role model that was loved by all. She was a member of Friendship Baptist Church. She retired from the MS Dept. of Rehabilitation Services and Kroger in Starkville, MS.


She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry Arney and Viola Scarbrough Arney; and brothers, Marvin (Bobbie), Joe and Claude (Glenda) Arney: in- laws Felix Pearson, Frank Allen, Herman Fortenberry and Margaret Arney.

She is survived by her children, Rhonda (Mike) Walters of Murrells Inlet, SC and JJ (Jerry Joe) (Joni) Hunt of Sturgis, MS; grandchildren Michelle, Elizabeth, and Jessica Walters and Sidnie Hunt; sisters Mavis Allen of West Point, MS, Faye Pearson of Sturgis, MS, and Mary Fortenberry of Philadelphia, MS; brothers, O. F. "Pete" Arney of Jackson, MS and Charles (Shirley) Arney of Sturgis, MS; sister-in-law Sarah Arney of Starkville, MS.

There will be a graveside service at Craig Springs Cemetery in Sturgis on Friday, August 20, 2021 at 8:30 a.m. Rev. Ron Linkins will conduct the service.
