Obituary for William Wade Barnhill

William Wade  Barnhill
William Wade Barnhill, age 88, passed away on June 16, 2018 at Montgomery Gardens in Starkville, MS. Mr. Barnhill retired from Mississippi State University as Manager of the Motor Pool. He worked for years as a mechanic for Templeton Motor Company before being employed as Manager of the Mississippi State University Motor Pool. Wade enjoyed working on cars, gardening, and most importantly spending time with his family. Friends and family who needed assistance in any way could always depend on his help. Through the years, he enjoyed many years of videoing services at Calvary Baptist Church to share with shut-ins. A highlight of their retirement years for the Barnhills was traveling to all the continental United States (except Hawaii) and Canada with Mr. John Robert Arnold’s Starkville Buses. He was a charter member of Calvary Baptist Church in Starkville.

Mr. Barnhill is survived by two daughters, Waanda Barnhill Lee ( John ) of Starkville, and Glynda Barnhill Guiney (Ed) of Houston, Texas; son, Delvin Wade Barnhill (Connie Wilson) of Mathiston, MS; six grandchildren, (Rev. Tommy Lee and Elizabeth of Decatur Alabama, Shannon Barnhill Lisenby and Jeff of Birmingham AL, Michelle Lee Green and Byron of Brandon, MS,Sharon Barnhill Silverman and Glen of Madison, MS, Kristin Guiney McClees and Ed of Houston, TX, Sheryl Guiney Forbes and Scott of Houston, TX), 18 great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. He was preceded in death by his mother and father, Robert and Pearl Barnhill, wife, Clauise Vay White Barnhill, daughter, Lynda Fay Barnhill, son, Anthony Leo Barnhill, daughter-in-law, Linda Cantrell Barnhill, granddaughter, Paula Faye Barnhill, and five brothers and two sisters.

Visitation is scheduled for Tuesday, June 19, 2018 at Welch Funeral Home in Starkville from 5-7 p.m. Prior to the 10:30 funeral service on Wednesday, June 20, there will be a visitation starting at 9:30 at Welch Funeral Home. Services will be conducted by Dr. Grant Arinder. Burial will follow at Oddfellows Cemetery in Starkville.
