Obituary for Danny Carlisle
Coach Danny Carlisle was born February 12, 1953 in Starkville, MS to Harold Thomas Carlisle and Dorothy Martin Carlisle. He passed away on December 5, 2018 at his home with his family by his side.
He was a 1970 graduate of Starkville High School, and a 1976 graduate of Mississippi State University with a Master's degree in Administration. He started working at Starkville Public Schools in 1978, where he was a science teacher, and long time driver's education instructor, junior high football coach, junior high basketball coach and an assistant high school baseball coach. He became the head baseball coach from 1984-2012, where he won three state titles, five north half titles, six division titles, and 27 playoff appearances. He coached the Mississippi Crossroads Diamond All-Star game three times and was a four time MS Association of Coaches Coach of the Year. He was an executive member of the Mississippi Association of Coaches, and inducted into the NEMS Baseball Hall of Fame.
He was preceded in death by his father, Harold T. Carlisle; and his brother, Tommy Carlisle.
Danny is survived by his wife of 45 years, Debra Miller Carlisle of Starkville, MS; children, Randy Michael Carlisle (Mallory) of Starkville, MS and Joni Carlisle of Sturgis, MS; mother, Dorothy Martin Carlisle of Starkville, MS; and grandchildren, Blake Miller, Braden Carlisle, Anna Hailey Bennett, and Riley Claire Carlisle; sisters-in-law, Becky Carlisle of Starkville, MS and Betty Doris Winters (Allen) of Albany, GA; and brother-in-law, Ronald Miller (Nita) of Madison, MS; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation is scheduled for Friday December 7, 2018 from 9:00-11:00 a.m. and also from 12:00-2:00 at Meadowview Baptist Church, with the service immediately following.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to: St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
