Obituary for William Carroll Randle

William Carroll  Randle
William Carroll Randle, Sr., 81, of Starkville passed away on Wednesday, June 25, 2014. The youngest son of John Allison Randle, Sr. and Leona Wilkey Randle and brother to Marlin Davis Randle, and John Allison (Sonny) Randle, Jr., he was a lifelong resident of the Oktoc Community where he operated a dairy farm, receiving the designation of Outstanding Young Farmer. After graduating from Starkville High School in 1950, he attended Mississippi State University, receiving a degree in Animal Husbandry in 1954. He was a member of the Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity as well as the Blue Key, Alpha Zeta, and Omicron Delta Kappa Honor Societies. He started his military career his freshman year of college in the U.S. Army ROTC, serving on the Scabbard and Blade Honor Society Drill Team. Upon graduation he served two years at Fort Bliss, Texas, finishing his service as a Captain with the Army National Guard after he returned to Starkville. He married Patricia (Patsy) Ruth Bailey on February 12, 1956. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather, “Dedaddy”. As a lifelong member of First Presbyterian Church of Starkville, he taught Sunday School and served multiple terms as both a deacon and elder of the church. Founder and President of Oktoc Water Association for 40 years, he was also co-developer and manager of the Browning Creek development in Oktoc and president/owner of the Browning Creek Utility Company.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Patsy Bailey Randle and their three children Allison Randle Jenkins and husband Steven Jenkins of Wetumpka, Alabama, William (Will) Carroll Randle Jr. and wife Jamie of Okemos, Michigan, and James Andrew (Andy) Randle and wife Angela of Collierville, Tennessee and nine Grandchildren: LTJG Michael Harden Newell, USN, Bailey Grace Roney and husband Brett, Allister (Ali) Carroll Randle, Christina Hope Randle, Mary Grace (Gracie) Randle, James Andrew Randle, Jr., Kendall Reagan Butts, Mackenzie Taylor Butts, and William (Liam) Carroll Randle, III.
Visitation will be from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. on Friday, June 27th at the First Presbyterian Church of Starkville. Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 28th at First Presbyterian Church followed by graveside services at Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Welch Funeral Home is in charge of services. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the First Presbyterian Church of Starkville.
